I was going to spend today listening to Michael Jackson tunes in honor of his death but discovered to my surprise that I only own "Thriller". Well, I'll listen to that, then. MJ became a trainwreck in the last several years, but he was always a great damn musician, and (like [livejournal.com profile] arkhamrefugee has said) that's all I care to remember.

Anyone want to make bets on who the third celeb to take the dirt nap will be?

[[edit: oops, forgot that Ed McMahon died Tuesday. I guess Jackson was the third.]]

Hooray it's FRIDAY!

We've already completed this cycle of three, sir. First: Ed McMahon; Second: Farrah Fawcett; Third: Michael Jackson.

If you want another after MJ, we'll have to kill two additional celebs. Not that there is anything wrong with that...

What he/she said. There were already three!

I was sort of shocked by MJ's death.

I just remembered McMahon, like, two seconds ago. Ooops, me. :) In my defense, I never watched Carson, so McMahon didn't make much of an impact on me.

cheers,
Phil

Fair enough. If you'd have been on the ground when he went skydiving, perhaps his impact would've been more...well, just more.

In any case, Happy Friday.

I had $5 on Walter Cronkite. I lost that one.

Farrah Fawcett died earlier in the day yesterday. You didn't hear about it because Micheal Jackson died.

Oh, no. I knew about Farrah and mourned her a lot. She was very beautiful and talented. I was considering her #1 of 2 until I remembered McMahon.

cheers,
Phil

I've declared Michael Jackson to be the new Lady Di and I'm officially over the death entirely. I've yet to hear or see a single newscast that didn't have SOME mention of it (including SportCenter for crying out loud).

I mourn Jackson as much as any other random human's death. I feel for his family (that's not new come to think of it), but that's about the sum total of it.

Maybe I'm missing the point (I'm told I did when the last 'voice of a generation' died), but I'm already done.

I was that way when Kurt Cobain blew his head off. About a day of news stories on that was all I could take. Then again, I never liked Nirvana.

cheers,
Phil

Yes, really terrified while in a car many times, most recently, in a company van driving from Ft. Lauderdale to Naples, FL across the everglades. As i got out of tthe everglades and near Naples, it began to rain. I was behind a Hummer, I noticed his brake lights & then blue smoke from underneath. It was than I realized a small car going the other way had hhydroplaned, spun & come accross the median. I stood on the brakes and held the van straight. The little car went between me & the Hummer, just missing the Hummer, and I stopped just short of hitting the Hummer... Nobody hit anybody, and all was OK, but we all had to walk around in the rain for a while to calm the nerves before driving away...
