Looking for work, very soon.
I've just lost my job.
The small software company that I've been working for for the past seven years or so has been struck pretty hard by the bursting of the Internet dot-com bubble. We've been in the red for some time and today I was given the lovely news that I'm being let go because they can't afford to keep me anymore. I'll be working through the end of this week.
I am now in search of ANY new job. I will be able to pay rent and bills for perhaps two months before being in desperate straits, but in the meantime I would greatly appreciate it if anyone knows of any opportunities in the Atlanta area. I will do retail work, temp work, unskilled labor, whatever -- there has been no response to the resumes I've sent out in the IT area so I am going to have to take whatever I can get.
I'm also not too proud to beg. If you want to drop me a couple bucks to keep me going temporarily and you like the stuff I write, you can use Paypal to drop me a few coins. You can send to the email address direwolf (AT) speedfactory (DOT) net.
I could really use your good thoughts right now, folks.

Have you visited http://www.aquent.com/ ?
They have a bunch of stuff listed all the time, temp work, permanent...
Check not just in your own area (because I see there's not anything there today-- though it changes all the time) but because a lot of the stuff you do can be done via telecommuting... I know a couple of people who have gotten work this way.
Good luck!

sucktacular. :(
The Atlanta Business Chronicle a couple of weeks ago published a list of the top 50 tech firms in Atlanta -- it might be a starter list of corporate websites where you'd like to drop your resume.

Best of luck, and do keep us all posted.

Not sure what you do, but my company does have one job available in Atlanta: http://redhat.hrdpt.com/cgi-bin/a/highlightjob.cgi?jobid=46
Good luck, man. :)

I did wrangle a concession out of them that I get the two weeks of vacation pay I'm owed -- if they have the money for that.
Thanks for the job posting; unfortunately I have no experience working with Linux so I'd be useless at that one. I appreciate it anyway.

Aw maaan
MAKE IT YOUR BITCH!
And although I've never fantasized about moving to the Great South, if you run across anything to do with drawing/painting that pays over $24k a year, send the job offer my way. I'm still having a hell of a time finding work without going back to school for a CS degree here in AZ.

I'm sorry, too!
Well, if you're interested, I'm looking for a web developer and someone to create the dbs I told you about... that's about all I can offer you right now.
And I agree with the sentiment that everything happens for a reason -- and maybe the reason is this... you would have never left if they didn't kick you out first... if you remember some of those emails from way back when...
Anyway, good luck with the job search, and you owe me an email! If there's anything I can do...
