A bit of good news to report this morning.

I

AM

EMPLOYED AGAIN!

A few weeks ago I went to see Robert Fripp at the Variety Playhouse. My friend Bo was there, plus his sister Helly and Helly's fiance Alan.

After the show we all went for dinner. During dinner, the subject of my unemployment came up. Alan mentioned that he could probably get me a position at his workplace with my skillset and I should get in touch with him. At the time, I had a few good leads, so I never did get in touch.

A few weeks after THAT, Bo gave me a call to mention that Alan was curious why I hadn't contacted him. Apparently it hadn't just been an off-the-cuff offer as so many of the others I'd heard; he really did mean he could get me a position. The other leads I'd had hadn't panned out, so I contacted Alan.

Two days later I had an interview with the company. Thursday last week I went in for the interview, which went extremely well and lasted almost two hours. A day after that, I got a callback from them for a follow-up phone interview. And Tuesday this week, I got a phone call from HR offering me the position.

I took 48 hours to think it over (it is, unfortunately, a pay cut from my previous position) and this morning I called to accept. So as of this morning I am employed once more. The company is a large well-known one and the position offers tons of opportunities for advancement; promotion isn't on a set scale but is based on one's performance, so I am certain I'll do quite well on that basis. Training is good, the atmosphere is casual, benefits are good, and the company seems to be a rewarding and challenging place to work. All good signs in my estimation.

The company's next orientation is on April 17th, so I do not start work until then, but leave us say I am tremendously relieved to be a useful part of the working public once again!

Thanks to all who sent good job-fu, pleasant vibes, or just said they hoped I was doing well. It is all appreciated.
